Professor Jan Nečas is a leading expert in the field of particulate materials, focusing on their behaviour, mechanical properties, and industrial applications. For over two decades, he has been a driving force in research and innovation at the VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, where he currently serves as Vice Dean for Development and Industry Cooperation at the Faculty of Mining and Geology, and leads the Bulk Solids Centre there. His research spans structural and process engineering, with a particular emphasis on bulk solids handling, storage systems, energy sector applications, and sustainable treatment of secondary raw materials. He has been the lead co-lead of numerous national and international research projects, many of which are interdisciplinary and yield outputs of high practical value. His scientific contributions include numerous peer-reviewed publications, patents, and licensed technologies that have been implemented in industrial practice.
